We are dedicated to serving our planet, and our community. One of the ways we strive to make a difference is by reducing waste. At Simple Bare Necessities, we aim to minimize waste by opting for compostable/recyclable packaging, reusing our shipment boxes and packing materials for customers orders, using recycled paper and labels for our products and more.
Did you know the average person creates approximately 4.4 lbs of waste everyday?
Our newest initiative for our community is offering recycling drop-off. This isn't for your typical local cardboard and plastics recycling, we are collecting waste that would typically end up in a landfill because it can't be recycled locally.
What are you going to do with the waste?
We joined TerraCycle to recycle these otherwise unrecyclable items. TerraCycle is an innovative recycling company based out of Trenton, NJ that has become a global leader in recycling hard-to-recycle materials. TerraCycle's recycling programs allows us to collect waste, send it in, and be recycled and repurposed keeping it from polluting our planet. Our purpose is to provide the community with solutions for the plastic/pollution crisis. Together we can collectively make a difference, so we need your help!
How can I help?
We need your trash!
In a nutshell, that's all we are asking for. We are collecting waste to be recycled for three different programs - Razor Recycling Program, Oral Care Recycling Program, and Air Freshener Recycling Program.
Razor Recycling Program
All brands of blades and razors (systems and disposable units, and replaceable-blade cartridge units), rigid plastic packaging, and flexible plastic bag packaging
Oral Care Recycling Program
All brands of used or empty toothpaste tubes and caps, toothbrushes, toothpaste cartons, toothbrush outer packaging, and floss containers
NOTE: Electric toothbrushes, battery toothbrushes, and/or their parts are not accepted for recycling through the program.
Air Freshener Recycling Program
All brands of air freshener cartridges, plugs, trigger heads, and plastic and film packaging
NOTE: In order to make the recycling process as effective as possible, we do not accept plastic bottles, as these can be recycled through most municipal programs.
Where do we drop off our items?
Simple Bare Necessities will be popping up at The Shoppes at Lafayette Saturday-Sunday 12th-13th, and Saturday-Sunday 19th-20th. Hours are Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
We will have bins inside our store to drop off your items to be sent to TerraCycle for proper recycling. You will be saving waste from the landfill that would otherwise be attributing to greenhouse gas emissions. With these programs, we are giving a second life to waste, something to be super proud of!
What happens to the waste?
Once collected, the products and packaging are cleaned and melted into hard plastic that can be remolded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables. Click here to learn more about the recycling process.
